Response from Derek Pretty
We received this response to our demands earlier today…
Responses to the demands made on December 8th 2010 by the group of students occupying the Senate Room
A number of students have taken up occupation in the Senate Room in Senate House in protest against the Coalition Government’s proposals on funding of Higher Education. Message of Support from Cardiff
Dear Haris,
Just to say that I support your cause wholeheartedly and hope that you will be able to hold out against the blockheads, turncoats and government stooges in charge of management ‘policy’ at Bristol.
Yours in solidarity,

National Day of Action, 13 December 2010
Students, staff and trade unions are calling for a day of action to save the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) on Monday, 13th December. Colleges and sixth-forms nationally will be holding lunchtime protests against government plans to cut EMA.
We stand in solidarity with all those protesting EMA cuts tomorrow, and we’d like to reiterate our demand that our Vice-Chancellor, Eric Thomas, write and send an open letter to the Government condemning cuts in the education budget and appealing to them not to implement these policies, and to publicly call for Vice-Chancellors across the country to unite against these cuts, any rise in tuition fees and the removal of Educational Maintenance Allowance and Aimhigher.
